What Is Title I?
Title I is a federal program that provides extra funding to help schools strengthen reading, math, and overall academic success. Schools use these funds for things like small‑group instruction, intervention support, additional staff, and family‑engagement activities (ESSA §§1114–1115).
How Does Title I Help Students?
Funds are used to make sure every child—no matter their background—has a fair chance to succeed (ESSA §1001). Title I supports early intervention, targeted help, and programs that boost student learning.
Parent Rights Under Title I
Parents have the right to:
Know their child’s academic progress
Receive information about teacher qualifications (ESSA §1112(e)(1)(A))
